Stage 2

Completion of CentrePorts work under Stage 2

On September 8th, CentrePort hosted guests at Seaview Wharf to celebrate the successful completion of their works under Phase 2 of the wider Seaview Resilience Project.

This marked a significant milestone in the project both for celebrating the completion of an enormous amount of physical works to strengthen the wharf and signifying that the remaining works will be led by the fuel industry.

“Congratulations to the CentrePort team and everyone involved in the Seaview Resilience Project on reaching this important milestone. Z is committed to supporting a resilient, future-ready liquid fuel supply chain and the completion of these upgrades marks a significant step in strengthening Aotearoa New Zealand’s fuel infrastructure.”

- Julian Hughes, GM Supply, Z Energy.

Stage 2 pipeline design and construction methodology finalised

The design and construction methodology for the replacement of the pipeline on the Seaview Wharf has been finalised.

The selected option is to install a submarine pipeline between the Point Howard headland and the Seaview wharfhead. This option provides the most resilient and cost-effective option available following CentrePort’s project to upgrade and strengthen the wharfhead.

Resource consents have been issued by both Greater Wellington City Council and Hutt City Council and include a range of conditions aimed at ensuring that the environment is protected, including working around kororā (little blue penguins).

Z has worked with Brian Perry Civil to develop and refine the construction methodology and we look forward to successfully completing this project with them.

Stage 3b
Pipeline installation

Solid progress has been made installing the pipework in September and October. The section of Port Road between Seaview Road and Seaview Marina’s gate No 3 (entrance to Burnsco) has been re-opened to two-way traffic. The project remains on track to have all pipework in the ground before Christmas.

A notable milestone in September was the replacement of the valve station on Seaview Road. The new valve station will enable future “intelligent pig” inspections of the pipeline as well as improved operability and maintainability.

Port Rd Sprints and Port Rd Drags

Our contractor Brian Perry Civil are actively working with the organisers of both the Port Road Sprints and the Port Road Drags to ensure that these activities can proceed in conjunction with our ongoing construction.
