May, June and July saw high amounts of rainfall which hampered the installation of the pipeline under Port Road (near the intersection with Marine Drive). A decision was made to postpone this work until later in the year when ground water flows are expected to be lower. Our work crews will now concentrate on installing the pipeline in the shoulder of Port Road. One crew working west towards Marchbanks Street and the other working south towards Toop Street.

The change of work fronts enabled us to reopen the Port Road closure early and implement the one-way traffic management system. Following feedback from local businesses we reduced the footprint of the one-way system to the minimum required. The full one-way system will be reimplemented from late August as the second work crew progress south of Barnes Street.
