Stage 2
- Seismic resilience upgrades for the main wharf continue. Work is to the underside of the wharf, which is challenging and largely out of sight (picture below).
- Upgrades to the approach wharf are underway including replacement of concrete deck panels.
- Pt Howard wharf demolition is now complete
Stage 3b
During April, Brian Perry Civil (BPC) undertook site establishment at the NZOSL Seaview terminal to establish their offices, storage areas for tools and materials, and to prepare an area where all soils excavated along the pipeline route can be stockpiled for environmental testing before they are disposed of to an appropriately licensed landfill based on the test results.
The eastern end of Port Road was closed on Wednesday 23 April and will remain closed until early August. This enables the pipeline to be installed under the many services in this road and will be the deepest excavation along the entire pipeline route. Access to all businesses and the Seaview Marina remain unaffected, albeit they need to be accessed from the other end of Port Road.
In May, BPC will progress the following works:
- Trenching across the Port Road crossing
Trenching down the first section of Port Road (heading west)
Civil works parallel to the Mobil terminal and Seaview Road
Commence trenching and pipeline installation within the Hutt City terminal
